On the 1st day, we were introduced to the brief of the “Personal Development Planning 3” class.

For this class, we participated in two workshops, the first was called “Who am I?”

I had to think about my areas of interest, what I think I might want to pursue when I graduate, what I enjoy doing, and which are my favourite projects, with that in mind go to Miro and place the necessary information in the circles.

At the centre ring, there is the work/role I am interested in. I did two separate circles, one for each for a role I am interested in, Graphic Design for film and Lettering.

On the middle ring, I had to define, explain, discuss these interests and show examples of real work in this area. On the Graphic design for the film circle, I showed work from Annie Atkins, Betty Woodhouse, MinaLima and others, that they did for tv and film like signs, packaging, and fake letters. On the Lettering circle I showed work from Martina Flor, Jessica Hische, Marley Soden, João Neves and Becca Clason which range from book covers and packaging to advertising and editorial.

On the last ring, I had to place pictures of projects I have and would use in my portfolio to promote myself into these industries. As you can see there are not many projects for either circle which is something I need to work on. For the lettering circle, I added all of my type and lettering-based projects and for the Graphic Design for film circle, I showed some patterns and some type and lettering work, which I think are relevant for the role, as well as a newspaper (part of a group project) which directly relates.

This workshop helped me have a better understanding of the work/roles I am interested in and how I relate to them.
